You must’ve heard that Nokia decided to give up the name Symbian, simply naming the OS on its handsets Nokia Belle/Anna etc. Thus, this Nokia Hercule concept doesn’t run Symbian Donna, but rather Nokia Donna OS, to make it clear. This design, mockup or whatever you want to call it was done by Rawad Semaan and I have to say that it’s a breath of fresh air from current designs.

Nokia Hercule uses a 2GHz Scorpion CPU (Qualcomm MSM8255), an Adreno 205 GPU and a 4.7 inch S-LCD screen with 480 x 800 pixel display. The screen aspect sounds identical to the one on the HTC Sensation XL and HTC Titan, which is not necessarily bad. We get a surprising internal memory of 60GB, 1GB of RAM, 4G connectivity and Bluetooth 3.0, plus microUSB 3.0. At the back there’s an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, dual LED flash, geotagging and 720p video capture.
There’s also a secondary 5MP camera and an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor and compass fill in the blanks of the hardware specs. Seeing the back of this Nokia concept, I can imagine that the texture on its back feels very nice in the user’s hand and those elegant lines remind me of an Armani suit. After the crazy success of the Nokia Tab Windows 8 tablet concept, now we have another similar design, this time created by YrOnimuS (Jonas Daehnert). He envisions a slate that reminds me a bit of the Nokia N9, but in a larger form factor, that involves a 11.6 inch AMOLED screen and a very thin case. There’s a good chance that the real device might look like this, when it will be unveiled at Nokia Connection 2012.

Cameron McKinnon is a name I haven’t heard before, but also a name I’ll remember when Nokia finally launches its Windows 8 tablet. Cameron is the creator of the beautiful Nokia Tab concept tablet shown below, running Windows 8 on top of an ARM based processor. This device is inspired by the Nokia N9 phone and by the Sony Tablet S, according to the designer.

Nokia Tab uses a massive 14.3 inch display, a 12 megapixel camera with Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss lens, plus Microsoft Kinect motion capture support through a front camera. The gadget is 12mm in thickness, it has 1GB of memory, a 64GB or 128GB HDD and it will be available in WiFi or WiFi + 4G models, if it’s ever made. It also has a SD card slot, a SIM card slot, USB 3.0 and micro USB 2.0 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack. Nokia’s concept tablet runs Windows 8 ARM Edition and its design also involves ergonomic curves for comfortable holding in portrait and landscape mode.
There’s also a power button with LED light in the mix, a camera button and the screen is curved making Windows 8 gestures more natural. The screen has a slope so that it’s easier to type on it and the bulkier side makes this look a bit like the Sony Tablet S. What do you think of this unique Nokia Windows 8 tablet? Would you buy one?

Motorola recently announced Motorola Xoom 2 which is the successor of the previous version. Comparing to original Xoom tablet this new Motorola Xoom 2 is 33% thinner, 10% lighter and Xoom 2 has more than 10 hours of battery life. Verizon will sell this Xoom 2 has Droid Xyboard 10.1 (MZ617) with some hardware changes. This new Motorola Xoom 2 has curved edges; some websites claim that this feature makes more comfortable to hold. I think it’s better if we compare this device with another hot product, so I’m here decided to do a comparison between Motorola Xoom 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (checkout the Galaxy Tab 8.9 article). We already know Samsung is the leader in IT; they manufacture RAMS, displays, hard disks, ARM application processors, etc. etc. Samsung makes some quality consumer products too. Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 is an awesome product, comparing to the previous version Samsung Galaxy tab this new tablet has a bigger screen size and more processing power.
Before I continue this comparison I would like to point out that above mentioned Motorola Xoom 2, Droid Xyboard 10.1 and Samsung Galaxy 10.1 are powered by Android Honeycomb OS. Android operating system now has more than 500,000 apps in the Android Market place. Google claims that they have received 200 million Android device activations. The latest Android OS Ice Cream Sandwich natively supports multi core ARM application processors. So now let’s begin the step-by-step comparison just scroll down for more information.
Design
Motorola Xoom 2 10.1 and Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 are same in dimensions 259.9 x 173.6 x 8.8 mm and it weights 599g. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 dimension is 256.7 x 175.3 x 8.6 mm and weights 565g; you can see Galaxy Tab .2mm slimmer and 34g lighter than the Xoom 2, so one point goes to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Display
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 1280 pixels of resolution; the Motorola Xoom 2 has a TFT capacitive touchscreen with 800 x 1280 pixels of resolution; the Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 has a HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with with 800 x 1280 pixels of resolution. As you can see only the display technology differentiates the panels. Let me tell you, this fight between PLS TFT and HD-IPS LCD. According to Wikipedia PLS (Plane Line Switching) technology developed by Samsung and it bears similarities to IPS panels and touts improved viewing angles and image quality, increased brightness and lower production costs. So the display point goes to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Processor and GPU plus sensors
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Motorola Xoom 2 powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 processor, but Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 powered by Texas Instrument’s OMAP 4430 processor. The processor battle begins between Tegra 2 and OMAP 4430. Nivida Tegra 2 running at 1GHz but OMAP 4430 running at 1.2GHz, extra 200MHz for better performance, at the same time OMAP 4430’s GPU is PowerVR SGX 540 and it is overclocked to 300MHz normally it runs at 200MHz. this boost gives more performance than Tegra 2 GPU checkout this article for more information. These three tablets have the same amount of RAM (1GB). Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has Accelerometer, gyroscope, digital compass and GPS sensors. Motorola Xoom 2 also has the same sensors Accelerometer, gyroscope, digital compass and GPS. But Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 has Accelerometer, gyroscope, digital compass and GPS plus barometer. So the point goes to Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1.
Connectivity
These three tablets integrate same connectivity features, Wi-Fi 802.11 B/ G/ N, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, EDR. So one point for each brand.
Camera
Motorola Xoom 2 and Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 features 5Mega pixel camera with autofocus and LED flash plus geo-tagging. It can record 720P videos at 30 frames per second. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 features autofocus with LED flash plus geo-tagging. It can record 720P videos but it has only 3Mega pixel camera. So Motorola Xoom 2 and Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 gets one point each.
Final words
Motorola Xoom 2 got two points, Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 (MZ617) got three points and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 got three points. Galaxy Tab and Droid Xyboard scored the same points so it’s up to you. Your turn to choose, by the way don’t forget to type your opinions as a comment.

Le processeur du nouvel iPad, objet de nombreuses spéculations, dévoile enfin ses caractéristiques : il n'est pas quadcore mais bien dual core.
La tablette iPad de 3ème génération vient d'être dévoilée sous l'étrange dénomination de " nouvel iPad ". Pas d' iPad 3 ou d' iPad HD, donc, malgré les nombreuses spéculations des derniers jours. La nouvelle tablette, de dimensions 241 x 185 x 9,4 mm pour 652 g ( 662 g pour la version 3G, plus que les 600 à 610 g de l'iPad 2 ), embarque un affichage 9,7" de résolution 2048 x 1536 pixels 264 ppi ( contre 1024 x 768 pixels 132 ppi pour l'iPad 2 ) correspondant ici aux rumeurs d'un affichage Retina.
Très proche d'aspect de l'iPad 2, il embarque un processeur Apple A5X ( et non Apple A6 ) qui se révèle être finalement toujours dual core pour la partie processeur d'applications ( comme l'Apple A5 ) mais quadcore pour la partie processeur graphique. Pas d'information sur la quantité de RAM embarquée, qui peut être de 1 Go ou rester à 512 Mo comme sur l'iPad 2.
Malgré l'arrivée des smartphones et tablettes quadcore, Apple reste donc sur une architecture dual core mais dont la société affirme qu'elle est nettement plus performante que le Tegra 3 quadcore de Nvidia. La dénomination A5X suggère qu'il s'agit toujours de coeurs ARM Cortex-A9 qui ont été optimisés et avec sans doute l'intégration directe de nouveaux composants, comme c'était déjà le cas avec l'Apple A5.
Le nombre de coeurs ne fait pas tout et Apple a su montrer à plusieurs reprises sa force dans l'adaptation précise de ses processeurs aux besoins de ses produits mobiles. Le choix d'un processeur dual core pour le nouvel iPad est bien ce qui nous avait été suggéré par un fondeur concurrent lors du salon MWC 2012.
Le processeur graphique est sans doute fourni par Imagination (partenaire de longue date d'Apple dans ses produits mobiles) et de la famille PowerVR, peut-être du type PowerVR SGX543MP4 (qui embarque justement 4 coeurs), après le SGX543MP2 de l'Apple A5. Il faudra attendre les premiers désossages pour le confirmer.
Si la logique d'Apple est respectée, cette combinaison Apple A5X / processeur graphique quadcore se retrouvera dans le futur iPhone ( le " nouvel iPhone " ? ) peut-être annoncé en juin à la WWDC 2012 ou à l'automne, comme l'iPhone 4S l'an dernier.
La nouvelle tablette embarque les connectivités cellulaires WiFi a/b/g/n et Bluetooth 4.0, et elle offre une compatibilité GSM / EDGE, UMTS / HSPA+ / DC-HSPA et LTE. La partie LTE, pour les marchés non LTE, pourra sans doute être activée lorsque les réseaux mobiles compatibles seront disponibles ( ou pas, vu que le module est compatible avec les bandes 700 MHz et 2,1 GHz, alors que la 4G européenne se jouera sur les bandes 800 MHz et 2,6 GHz ). C'est sans doute Qualcomm qui fournit ce composant multimodal, auquel est associé un module A-GPS avec boussole électronique.
Pas d'APN 8 megapixels dans le nouvel iPad mais un APN 5 megapixels iSight avec possibilité d'enregistrement vidéo 1080p ( 720p avec l'iPad 2 ) situé au dos et un APN VGA en façade pour lavisioconférence FaceTime. On retrouve également le connecteur classique des produits iOS.
La batterie intégrée assure jusqu'à 10 heures d'autonomie en WiFi, soit autant que l'iPad 2, et jusqu'à 9 heures en cas d'utilisation via un réseau cellulaire, toujours géré via une carte micro SIM.
Les prix des différents modèles, qui seront disponibles le 16 mars prochain ( mais les précommandes sont déjà ouvertes ), seront de :

Il a un nom de tueur mais il s’agit en gros d’un Galaxy Nexus avec le LTE (la super 3G) entièrement rempli de logiciels Samsung.
Le Skyrocket HD a un écran AMOLED de 4,65’’ et un processeur dual core d’1,5GHz. Ce téléphone qui ne verra peut-être pas le jour en France sera disponible outre-Atlantique dans les prochains mois. Il m’a tout l’air d’être un bon gros téléphone qui ne devrait pas peiner à trouver son public.

Peu avant la fermeture du MWC hier, un panel de journalistes et d’analystes a été désigné pour décerner « le prix du meilleur nouveau téléphone, périphérique ou tablette » à l’un des terminaux présentés à Barcelone. Le Nokia 808 PureView a été largement plebiscité.
Doté d’un APN 41 megapixels, le Nokia 808 PureView a su faire parler de lui lors de l’édition 2012 du MWC, notamment sur Gizmodo. Il a donc été élu meilleur nouveau téléphone à Barcelone. Une bonne nouvelle pour la firme finlandaise, puisque l’état de santé de ses finances continue de se dégrader.
Rappelons que ce terminal sous Symbian est doté d’un écran AMOLED de 4′ (640×360), d’une mémoire interne de 16 Go (extensible via Micro SD), du Bluetooth, du NFC, du Wifi, d’une sortie HDMI et d’une batterie 1400 mAh. Il sera disponible à partir du deuxième trimestre 2012 pour 599 euros.

Microsoft va étendre avec la prochaine mise à jour de Microsoft son cercle de possibilités. Ainsi, Windows Phone Tango sera compatible avec les smartphones aux caractéristiques techniques modestes.
La prochaine mise à jour de Windows Phone, la bien nommée Tango, sera donc déployée dans le courant du mois d’avril. C’est désormais une certitude. Et cette mise à jour devrait sans doute aider Microsoft à grapiller de nouvelles parts de marchés avec son OS mobile : Tango ayant décidé d’ouvrir son champ d’action aux smartphones plus modestes, et de baisser dans le même temps ses critères, si l’on puis dire.
En réalité, Tango, déjà implanté au sein du Lumia 610 de Nokia (un smartphone d’entrée de gamme, personne ne devrait venir contester ce fait), prouve qu’il est tout à fait possible de porter Windows Phone sur un terminal n’arborant qu’un bête processeur single-core cadencé à 800MHz, ou encore 256Mo de RAM. Pour aller encore un peu plus loin, sachez que Microsoft a prévu de rendre Tango compatible avec les chipsets Qualcomm 7x27a.
Enfin, sachez que cette mise à jour devrait tout de même afficher quelques limites : les faibles configurations ne devraient pas pouvoir jouir de l’upload automatique de clichés sur SkyDrive. Elles devraient tout de même pouvoir lancer près de 95% du contenu actuellement proposé sur le Windows Phone Marketplace. Ce qui est, entre nous, plutôt honorable.
