Someone from Esato claimed that the next the XPERIA would be an excellent way of making the original handset into a lower end device, accessible for people with less cash and tech know-how. A mid-end XPERIA would surely blow the competition away, but would it canibalize the sales of the original handset?

XPERIA X2 was designed by , a name you must have surely heard if you’ve seen our best Sony Ericsson concepts.

Notice that the neat touchscreen and interface are still there, WM flavour, but the next version of this XPERIA smartphone might lack the QWERTY keyboard. It’s the designer’s call there…

This concept phone’s main appeal is surely its 7.1 megapixel camera with autofocus and 5x optical zoom, coupled with a Walkman 3.0 player. You’ve got the best music player there is on a multimedia handset that uses a WVGA touch display and a front 0.48 megapixel camera (for 30 fps video recording).

The connectivity is quite standard (EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/Wi-Fi), while the specs list also includes a 256 MB internal memory, M2 and microSD card support (8 GB max) plus a mini USB and 3.5 mm audio jack.

K5i also comes with XP and Vista support and it can be used as your webcam, with probably better quality than your laptop’s incorporated camera. This Sony Ericsson device was designed by .

Razec from Esato’s back, bringing a hot new concept to life, the Sony Ericsson P905, inspired by the JavaOne handsets you’ve seen a while back. We’re dealing with an UIQ device, bearing the codename Yokumo and using the Symbian OS 9.5 platform/UIQ Multitouch Edition.

The camera of the P905 is quite impressive, with its 8.1 megapixel sensor (Sony ICX-636 CCD), a Minolta Lens (AF/MF) plus a 1.3 megapixel Foxconn videocall camera.

And you haven’t even found out the CPUs/DSPs included in Razec’s latest creation! I’m talking about a powerful ATI Imageon M150 CPU (620 MHz), a Samsung GPS receiver, digital noise cancelling technology, Atheros WLAN 802.11 b/g/Draft-N and Sony S-Master Digital Surround Audio.

As for the colours of the device, it’ll arrive (in fantasy land) in lunar violet, violin red and neon green (image below).

Sometimes you just spot a fancy phone just by looking at the fonts it uses on its keys and display… This says it all about the device below: class, elegance, Sony Ericsson, slider… is it a Walkman or a Cyber-shot (as its branding says)?

Well, at least we know that the mysterious handset features a touch-sensitive keypad, a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, FM radio and a 2 GB internal memory.

Notice those play and pause buttons? Might be a Sony Ericsson Walkman concept after all, but I could just be the millionth person asking SE to create a Walkman-Cybershot hybrid…

The GX-1 is a Sony Ericsson concept phone that took part in a design competition, started by SE in China. This happened quite a few years ago, so it seems that the info on the participants and their products got lost in the mist of the web.
However, I managed to get my hands on this pic of the GX-1 concept and from what I can tell it seems quite a rugged device, with an original way of holding a SIM card. Too bad that the handset is bulky and the screen seems too little for the current full browsing-crazed public.

Yes, it is a Walkman phone, this W970i, but it looks very much like the ideal MP3 player, that would replace the ever popular iPod. Designed by the same talented J. Havrlant, the W970i comes with UIQ 4 and a pretty large display, but I’m not so sure about the multimedia keys placement beneath the screen…

They might not be very comfortable, but the device is still looking hot.
