Nokia N85 is a quad-band GSM and tri-band UMTS dual slider, inspired by the controversial design of the Nokia N81. It's also got HSDPA support to improve network data transfer speed even further. Undoubtedly, the most exiting feature about the N85 is the display - a 2.6" 16M color AMOLED unit of QVGA resolution. There is a built-in accelerometer for automatic rotation of the UI and dedicated gaming keys for improving the N-gage gaming expirience. Some of the other features of the Nokia N85 include microUSB slot, 3.5mm standard audio jack and GPS. The handset running of the Symbian OS with S60 UI and Feature Pack 2 preinstalled will also have WLAN and Bluetooth among its connectivity options. A 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, dual-LED flash and autofocus assist light is mounted at the back of the device. It can manage the sweet VGA video recording at up to 30 fps. A secondary CIF camera is at the front to take care of the video calls. The built-in memory of the Nokia N85 is 74MB and there is a microSD card slot to extend that. An 8GB card (the largest currently available on the market) will be included in the retail package. The final multimedia touches to the Nokia N85 are the FM radio and FM transmitter. Nokia N85 will be available in Copper color in October for an estimated retail price of 450 euro (660 US dollars) before taxes or subsides.
The bar-shaped Nokia N79 has a bit more modest feature list but has better (or so it seems to us) looks and a more compact boy. It still supports all the four GSM bands but the 3G works only on the 900 and 2100 MHz bands. The display on the N79 is a 2.4" QVGA one, capable of showing up to 16M colors. Wi-Fi, GPS and a 5 megapixel camera are some of its other more important features. Nokia N79 also sports FM radio and FM transmitter, allowing you to broadcast your favorite tracks within a short range over radio waves. Quite as expected, it too runs on the Symbian OS with S60 v3.2 UI. Nokia N79, much like the N85, features the interesting Navi wheel navigation solution which we first came to know in the Nokia N81. The 3.5mm standard audio jack, the Bluetooth connectivity and the microUSB slot are hardly a surprise to anyone. The internal memory of the N79 is 50MB and it will be expandable through the microSD card slot (a 4GB memory card will be included in the retail package). The other upgrade of the Nokia N79 over the N78 (in addition to the improved camera and video recording) is its easily customizable exterior. The handset will come with two extra Xpress-on covers in the retail package and additional ones can also be purchased. Nokia N79 will hit the shelves in Canvas White and Seal Grey color versions in October and will cost 350 euro (515 US dollars) before taxes or subsides.
Nokia introduced today a new addition to its premium Arte-series. The new Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte stays faithful to the family tradition, and the exquisite finish is yet again tinged with a touch of distinctive personality. Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte is cast in the same mold as the Arte and the Sapphire Arte. The materials used are different this time, carbon fiber with etched 3D patterns dominating the exterior. And yes, it does remind us of the LG KF750 Secret's battery cover too.
The new Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte will feature the turn-to-mute and tap-for time features that we got to know in the original Arte. Those use the built-in accelerometer to show the time by simply taping twice on the case or mute calls by turning it over. In fact, the only difference in functionality is the internal memory, which has grown to 4GB now. Some of the other features of the Carbon Arte include a 3 megapixel auto focus camera, 2" OLED screen with scratch resistant coating. There is also 3G support, as well as Bluetooth and microUSB on-board. Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte will become available in the 3rd quarter of the year (meaning it's got a month or so) at an estimated retail price of 1100 euro before subsidies or taxes. A wide range of exquisite accessories will ship with the handset. Well, with a price-tag like that they'd better do.
Today Nokia introduced a new compact and affordable clamshell – the Nokia 3610 fold. A moderate price tag and decent looks might be just right to make it click. Nokia 3610 fold has all four GSM bands supported, which makes it usable worldwide. The internal display is a 2” unit handling up to 262K colors. There’s also a 1.36” 262K-color secondary screen, to be used for indicating incoming calls, messages or showing an analogue timepiece.
The built-in camera offers 1.3 megapixel imaging. Nokia 3610 fold will also feature 30MB of built-in storage and a microSD card slot with support for up to 4GB cards. The Nokia 3610 Fold is expected to start shipping in the Q3 of 2008 (almost as we speak) at an estimated retail price of 125 euro before taxes and subsidies.
I had a friend of mine draw his version of the Nokia Tube, after all this hype that’s been going on and on about the handset. He’s not into cellphones at all, but his creation is reasonably funny, if you can take a geeky joke. In other words, here’s the Nokia Tube/Pipe.
The flagship of the series is Nokia 7610 Supernova. It comes with a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with dual LED flash and a 16M color QVGA screen. The stylish slider will rely on EDGE and GPRS for its data transfers as there is no 3G support available on-board. A really cool feature of the Nokia 7610 Supernova allows the keypad illumination color and the theme to be changed automatically depending on the current environment. It will also feature the old-but-obviously-not-forgotten XpressOn covers. Those allow easy changing of the color of the phone by simply changing its cover. The final extras include stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), microUSB slot and 30MB of internal memory (expandable through the microSD card slot) as well as FM radio with RDS. The quad-band Nokia 7610 Supernova will hit the shelves somewhere in the third quarter of this year at an estimated retail price of 225 euro before taxes or subsides. It will be available in two color versions - Pristine White (with Bright Lilac and Steel Blue XpressOn covers) and Muted gray (with Steel Blue and Red covers).
Next in line is the only clamshell in the series - the Nokia 7510 Supernova. It is equipped with two displays - a 2.2-inch 16M color internal one of QVGA resolution and an external one with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. It also sports a 2 megapixel snapper (no autofocus here), FM radio, microUSB slot and stereo Bluetooth (A2DP). The internal memory will be up to 25MB and will be further expandable up to 8GB via the microSD card slot. A nice thing about the Nokia 7510 Supernova is the automatic opening mechanism - you can open it with a simple push of a button. It's not a new feature (Nokia 6131 already had that), but definitely deserves credit. There will be four color versions of the Nokia 7510 Supernova available - Storm Blue, Fatal Red, Emerald Green and Espresso Brown. The clamshell will become available in Q4 and has an estimated retail price of 180 euro before taxes or subsides.
Nokia 7310 Supernova was available for purchasing online even before it was officially announced. In fact it was the only time that we can think of that Nokia messed things up so severely as to ship a phone before it is officially unveiled.
As far as the specifications are concerned the bar-shaped Nokia 7310 Supernova is a lower mid-end phone all over. It has a 2-inch display of QVGA resolution and a 2 megapixel snapper. XpreesOn covers are also available to diversify the looks of the phone. It also comes with a 2.5 standard audio jack, a microUSB slot and stereo Bluetooth (A2DP). GPRS and EDGE are supposed to take care of the network data transfers.
The tri-band Nokia 7310 Supernova will have 32MB of internal memory which will be extendable thanks to the built-in microSD card slot.
Since the 7310 Supernova is already available we can tell you the exact retail price - some 155 euro will easily get you one. The three different color versions are named: Steel Blue, Candy Pink and Wasabi Green
Finally we come to the most affordable member of the Supernova family - Nokia 7210 Supernova. It's a thinner version of the 7310 and stands at only 10mm of thickness. It has only 256K color display, but it's again a two-incher with QVGA resolution. We suggest you'd be on the lookout for this little fella as it seems as a future market hit. Supporting tri-band GPRS and EDGE connectivity the bar-shaped 7210 has a built-in camera capable of taking photos of 2 megapixel resolution. Some of the other niceties of the 7210 include FM radio with RDS, microUSB and stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) as well as 30 MB of internal memory. There is also a memory card slot for expanding the memory but it only supports memory cards with a capacity of up to 2GB. Nokia 7210 Supernova will be available in Bubble Gum Pink and Vivid Blue from Q3 2008. Its estimated retail price is 120 euro before taxes or subsides.
The Nokia E66 is the same business-grade device as the Nokia E71, however without the QWERTY keyboard. It comes as a successor of the Nokia E65 and is equipped with a large 2.4-inch TFT display of QVGA resolution. Infrared port (are they serious?), microUSB port, and Bluetooth (A2DP and EDR) are also on board. Nokia E66 will also sport a built-in accelerometer, which would allow auto screen rotation, as well as silencing of incoming calls when the device is turned over.
